Art or Graffiti?

17th March 2014
Art or graffiti...? That's the question. Many of us pass street art every day. You might admire the colour, on other occasions you may think it's an eyesore. Just to clarify -The unimaginative tags, names, adorning garages and back streets are not what I'm referring to, I believe they're an eyesore. I'm talking about the colourful murals and images that convey a message or excite the senses. Recently street art has come into it's own. Artists such as Banksy have catapulted it into the limelight....It's grown in popularity and is gaining huge recognition.

I actually think it's art for the people by the people and when I was young it was a bit of colour and cheer in an otherwise drab urban city - I grew up in South East London. It can have a message to convey, or just be art for the sake of art....

I love the vibrant chaos.....

Isolating the mish mash, really looking, reveals hidden gems...They're there, trust me !

Street art images are available from my gallery page.

Some people become cops because they want to make the world a better place. Some people become vandals because they want to make the world a better looking place.”
